A Thermowell works as a protective barrier between the process media and the temperature sensor. The thermowell is installed directly into the process line while the RTD or thermocouple is inserted inside it. Heat is transferred from the process fluid through the thermowell wall to the sensor, enabling accurate temperature measurement while protecting the sensor from pressure, corrosion, vibration, and abrasive materials. This design allows sensors to be replaced without shutting down the process.
